In City Trial mode, each character (except Kirby) gets unique modifiers to their base stats, in the form of boosts and penalties to at least one stat each. Kirby has 7 unlockable alternate colors, and every other character has 3 - these are unlocked by spending Paintbrushes which are earned on several Checklist boxes. All characters can ride all Air Ride Machine types - this differs from the original Air Ride, where Meta Knight had no Machine and Dedede was locked to his own unique Wheelie Bike. With Default controls, different actions are mapped to different buttons, whereas Simple controls mimic the controls of the original Air Ride and tie all actions to the stick and A button.Ĭity Trial Ultra Deluxe features a wide variety of playable characters, with a grand total of 15. There are two different control modes: Default and Simple. Players can Dismount from their Machines, which is mainly used in City Trial to switch to a new Machine. Braking allows players to stop more quickly than Charging but without the speed boost. Quick Spin allows players to attack other players and do extra damage to breakable objects by spinning. Players can Charge/Drift which causes them to slow down, but lets them take corners more tightly and can provide a burst of speed once the Charge is unleashed. The basic gameplay is the same as Kirby Air Ride, with players racing around on their Air Ride Machines. ![]()
